A Power Aware Scheduling Method for Real-Time OSes

Abstract
This paper proposes a power consumption conscious scheduling method that monitors task progress on Real-Time OS. The OS can grasp a task progress, and reduce the processor voltage according to the task progress. We have completed the proposal and implemented the method on TOPPERS/JSP kernel running on SH-3 processor. Our experiment has unveiled that the scheduling delay has critical impact to the schedulability of these tasks. It is necessary to clarify the cause of this scheduling delay through further
experiments.
